47. he Baroque Palace in Timisoara
The Baroque Palace was built in 1754 and it is one of the most important historical monuments of the town of Timisoara. It got its name, Baroque Palace, in 1754 when it became the residence of the governor of the Austro-Hungarian Empire’s region, the Banat. At that time the palace was decorated in Baroque style. The Baroque Palace has held a variety of administrative functions over time. After 1944, the Palace housed the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine before functioning, as of 1980, as an exhibition area for the fine art collections belonging to the Banat Museum. Today, the Baroque Palace houses the Timisoara Art Museum.
