Széchenyi-castle, Nagycenk
Nagycenk is situated in the western part of Hungary. The Széchenyi family built their family seat at Nagycenk. The unique Baroque castle, an architectural masterpiece, is now a museum. It was built around 1750. Count Ferenc Széchenyi offered to his nation an enormous book, map and coin collection concentrated at Cenk, and with that, founded and established the Hungarian National Museum and the National Széchényi Library which bears his name. Count István Széchenyi (son of Ferenc) “the greatest Hungarian” lived here for a long time and is buried here.
