12. Festetics Palace – Keszthely
This beautiful building is the third biggest castle of Hungary, the symbol of Keszthely. The Festetics Palace is a Baroque palace located in the town of Keszthely, Zala county. The building of the Festetics Palace began in 1745 by Kristóf Festetics and gained its present form between 1884 and 1887. Count György Festetics turned the palace into a cultural centre. He is known for organizing the famous Helikon Festivities and the extension of the palace library. The 101-room building houses a museum and a conference centre. The building is surrounded by a nature reserve park.
