Cathedral of Alba Iulia
It was built between 1247 and 1291. St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Cathedral of Alba Iulia draws the most visitors of the Alba County seat; it is the best-preserved medieval religious edifice in Central Europe. It shelters the tombs of John Hunyadi (Hungarian: Hunyadi János) and other Transylvanian princes of the Bethlen and Rakoczy families. Recently, the cathedral has been included in Transromanica network, that represents the common Romanesque heritage of eight countries in Europe between the Baltic and the Mediterranean Sea. It is the only landmark in Romania to join the network.
