24. Brinje Castle
Sokolac Castle is a castle in Brinje, Croatia. The castle was once belonged to the powerful Croatian dukes or princes of Krk; it includes one of the finest Late Gothic religious buildings in Croatia. In the restless times of the Ottoman invasion, people sought security below its powerful walls, and so the settlement of Brinje developed. Brinje’s history dates back to medieval times, while the town was held by the noble Frankopan and Gorjanski families. Brinje was important medieval fortified city held by Frankopan family.
