Esterházy Castle – Kismarton

Esterházy Castle – Kismarton

Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt (Hungarian: Kismarton) is one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Austria. It was constructed in the late 13th century, and came under ownership of the Hungarian Esterházy family in the early 17th century. For more than 40 years the composer Joseph Haydn was inspired by the Esterházy Palace’s special atmosphere to create exceptional music to accompany historic events. The palace in Eisenstadt is still a focal point for cultural activities and a brilliant setting for celebrations and social events.
