St. Martin’s Cathedral, Bratislava
St. Martin’s Cathedral, the largest, oldest and best known cathedral in Bratislava in which Queen Maria Theresa was crowned. During the Ottoman Empire days when Hungary was conquered, St. Martin’s Cathedral became the coronation church for Hungarian kings. It is the second most popular tourist location in Bratislava. It is situated at the western border of the historical city center below Bratislava Castle. It was built in the 13th century and almost immediately became the center of an everyday life. Originally a Roman architecture has been converted in the Gothic style in the 13th century and remained till today. The 85m Gothic tower was formerly a look-out point.
